Shades of John Oliver’s expose on Ohio charter schools!
Trump is scheduled to visit the Ohio charter school, Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy, tomorrow. While I was visiting the site to see what CASSA was about, the site changed dramatically.
Here’s the current version:
clevelandartsocsci.org
Here’s the one from January 2016 in the wayback machine:
web.archive.org/…
Note the reference to accreditation has been eliminated. That’s probably because the school was not accredited by AdvancEd as it claimed.
Also note the “Results” and “Events” pages are blank.
The original site claimed the school was managed by Mosaica, a for-profit company that went belly up and was bought by another for-profit company, Pansophic Learning. It is not clear if Pansophic manages CASSA.
According to its 2014 990, CASSA had a deficit of $1.8 million.
In its 2014 990, CASSA did not disclose rent but in 2013 it paid $812k in rent. The property is owned by a for-profit Oregon company. Charter School Capital which buys property and then rents to charter schools.
If CASSA is an example of what Trump thinks a school should be, education in this country is in big trouble!
Update:
Cleveland Arts & Social Sciences Academy was rated “D” for performance index and “F” for indicators met by the Ohio Board of Education in 2014:

The company that manages CASSA, ACCEL, is a subsidiary of Pansophic Learning which is owned by a Saudi Businessman:
