A number of profiles of Michael D. Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney, note he was a partner at NYC law firm, Phillips Nizer before signing on with Trump. I checked the PN website in the internet archive and he was only first listed as partner in October 2006.
By May 2007, Cohen’s title was changed from partner to counsel. He remained in the PN directory as counsel until some time in late 2008.
One Cohen profile indicates he joined the Trump organization in 2007.
Another article noted Cohen worked at a personal injury law firm before joining PN but the firm’s name wasn’t provided. Unfortunately, the same article stated Cohen joined the Trump organization in 2006 which is flat out wrong.
How do you go from a PI firm to PN “partner in the Corporate Department, and co-Chair of the firm’s Distressed Debt and Claims Trading Group” ?
Read Cohen’s PN bio. Guy went to a third rate law firm. Did he buy his way into PN?
Josh Marshall at TPM has an excellent article on Cohen’s family wealth and links to a 2/2007 NY Post story about Cohen, Nizer Phillips partner, buying up Trump properties.
A 2/2015 article on a NY real estate news site reported Cohen bought an Upper East Side apartment complex for $58 million.
I think it might be time for more investigative work into Michael Cohen’s background.
